Hummingbirds

It's really hard to get good photos of the hummingbirds. I use a Sony W8O camera and don't have much zoom.

Prayer Garden

This is an area of my yard that is too dry and shady for flowers, so I put in a large piece of driftwood, a path with stepping stones and a wooden bench (made by Dave and Betty, thanks!). Now I use this as a resting area and a place to view the rest of the garden/yard. Taken in the fall .... Taken in the summer ....

Bald Cardinal

Have you seen a strange bird in your yard? It's a cardinal. The feathers were lost on the head showing the black skin underneath.

Goldfinch

This Goldfinch flew into our patio door and was stunned. When he was able to fly, he made it onto the porch rail. I was able to touch him before he flew away.

Downy Woodpecker

Rudbeckia/False Sunflower

These rudbeckias are beautiful and bloom for at least 6 weeks when deadheaded.

Victoria Blue Salvia

"Victoria Blue" Salvia is one of my favorite perennials. It is a beautiful shade of blue, is not invasive and blooms all summer. As you can see, the bumblebees love it too.

Hummingbird favorites

Salvia/Texas Sage and Larkspur. The red Texas Sage attracts more hummingbirds than any other flower in my garden.

Cardinal

When I noticed a male and female cardinal making a nest in a cedar tree near my house, I watched their progress daily. This photo was taken the day they left their nest.
