Fall in Virginia 2008

It was a beautiful fall day and I decided to explore the yard. I was welcomed by an unbelievable display of fall color. We usually go the Blue Ridge Parkway to see the fall color in the trees, but after seeing this from my yard, I knew I had seen the BEST color I could see anywhere.

Johnny Jumpups

Johnny Jumpups are so beautiful in the spring. They brighten up the garden before any other flowers come up except the crocus. They come up from seeds from the previous year. All their "faces" are turned toward the sun.

Hummingbird on trumpet vine

The hummingbirds love this vine. We have had a severe draught this summer and this vine seems to be very draught tolerant. It is a fast grower so it needs lots of area to climb.
